This evening I had the opportunity to be inspired by one of the greatest design minds of all time, Milton Glaser. As one of the perks of serving on the AIGA board, I was able to attend a gallery stroll of Milton’s work led by the man himself in an exhibit at the BYU Museum of Art. Witnessing these works such as the original Dylan poster, sketchbooks and other beautiful pieces then hearing the story behind this art by Milton was very interesting to say the least.
I then attended a dinner with Milton Glaser and Steven Heller where the food was light, but very good. As I was half way through my salad a lady got up, announced she was going to bless the food and to forgive your guilt if you already started eating, then prayed for Milton to continue to do inspiring work. Only at BYU.
The event consisted of Steven Heller interviewing Glaser in a conversation style. Hearing this mans opinions, thoughts and theories on design, education and life in general struck me deep as he truly is a great mind. And pretty funny. There is a reason Milton Glaser is the best known designer in America and I witnessed that tonight.
